Mεγάλες και αυξανόμενες εισροές, χρήση μεγάλου αριθμού εξοπλισμού και επεμβάσεων και μείωση της οργανικής ύλης του εδάφους συνεπάγονται, σύμφωνα με τον προϊστάμενο του Εθνικού Κέντρου Βάμβακος του ΕΛΓΟ Δήμητρα, δρ Μωχάμεντ Νταράουσε, το παραδοσιακό σύστημα καλλιέργειας του βάμβακος σε συνδυασμό με τη μονοκαλλιέργεια.
